From indulgent cheesecakes to classic British bakes, macarons and show-stopping sweet treats, you’ll spend a few joyful hours learning practical techniques you can confidently recreate at home.

Pasta-Making Experiences

A savoury twist, rooted in Italian tradition.

We’re delighted to be expanding The CakeSmith experience with authentic pasta-making workshops, hosted by Richard Sfoglino of Mattarell.

Trained at the prestigious Vecchia Scuola Bolognese in Italy, Richard brings traditional techniques to our kitchen - using justy our hands, a rolling pin, and time-honoured methods.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Make classic egg pasta dough
  • Roll pasta by hand (no machines)
  • Shape tagliatelle, farfalle and strozzapreti
  • Take home your handmade pasta and a traditional Bologna sauce

Arrival drinks, sweet treats and refreshments are included, making this a relaxed and sociable experience - even if you’ve never made pasta before.

Not everyone wants to bake — and that’s exactly why we created this. A Sweet Treatment combines a full Afternoon Tea with a relaxing beauty treatment, hosted in collaboration with Kyra Mae of Skin19_.

It’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for:

  • A special day with friends
  • A relaxed celebration without baking
  • Something indulgent, social and a little bit different

What’s included:

  • A Swedish back, neck & shoulder massage (25–30 minutes)

A beautiful space for small gatherings

If you’re looking for a cosy, welcoming space for a daytime get-together, meeting or small group activity, our Social Room is available to hire.

Set by the canal at Napton Marina, it’s ideal for relaxed, informal gatherings.

Room hire includes:

  • Space for 6–12 people
  • Arrival drinks, refreshments and homemade cake
  • China tea sets, water jugs and glassware
  • Tables, seating and parking

A little about me

I’ve loved baking since I was a little girl, covered in flour in my mum’s kitchen. Over the years, that passion has only grown – from baking at home for farmers markets, to running my own cake shop, and now sharing what I’ve learned through my baking experience workshops. 

I believe baking should be joyful, creative and accessible to everyone, whether you're picking up a whisk for the first time or looking to expand your skills. I’d love for you to join me in my kitchen and fall in love with baking too.

Aside from baking, I love animals and can often be found outside tending to my chickens or walking my two dogs. You may also catch me on the slopes as skiing is a sport that I truly love.

I can't wait to share my love of baking with you and to help you take your skills to the next level. See you in the kitchen!

Awesome Experience - We had a brilliant time at the British & Traditional Cake workshop! Louise was great, she made us feel at ease right away! We arrived to some Prosecco and the option for a hot drink too!

Louise was very patient and explained the reason for doing different aspects of each of the stages, It was relaxed and informal and I learnt so much! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we each took our bakes home! There was soo much cake!

What an amazing day not only did we make amazing treats, I finally understood how to pipe icing and create fancy cup cakes. Louise explained everything really well and guided us through all the steps, she also provided some amazing treats to eat I will definitely be going back of do more courses with her and recommend Louse to anyone looking to learn more about baking and decorating 💕

We really enjoyed our treatbox workshop today. Louise was warm and friendly and made us feel at ease really quickly. We had a fantastic time. It was so lovely to pause in between activities to try some different tasty nibbles all presented beautifully to make it feel like a real treat! The workshop was really clear to follow along, well organised and Louise was so approachable to ask questions or ask for a little help! Even though we had both done baking at home previously we both came away having learned some new skills, techniques, tips and tricks and are absolutely thrilled with what we had created! Can't wait to give some new ideas and equipment a try! Will keep an eye out for future workshops and would love to come back. 💕

A fantastic morning to celebrate a birthday! Great workshop! Louise was so lovely. Booking was easy and was in touch about it before hand. A really relaxed and lovely session. Great mix of baking, decorating but also drinking tea (and Prosecco) and eating lots of lovely treats! We got to bring so much home with us that we had made and despite all saying ‘ours won’t look as good as that’ they all looked brilliant! It was great to learn things which we can use again at home when baking. Will certainly be taking more people and visiting again!

I can’t recommend Louise’s kids parties highly enough! The organisation was fantastic, the kids had so much fun and it was really reasonably priced. They came away with skills and lots of sweet treats. Perfect for my 8 year old and her 6 friends.

Amazing Class - I attended a evening festive workshop at the Cakesmith and had an amazing time. Louise was so warm and welcoming and the kitchen workspace was beautiful. She taught us how to make various flavours of ice cream and ecclescakes.

And all of this was capped off with an incredible tea with sandwiches and a huge selection of sweet treats. I would highly recommend this and will definitely be making these bakes again. Thanks Louise!

We then made the truffles to decorate later and it was afternoon tea time for us. Sandwiches and cakes were delicious, table and tea well presented. After the afternoon tea we decorated our cup cakes and truffles. Louise is always to hand to advise and shows you initially how to decorate. We so enjoyed our day and plan to go to another event in the future.

The macaron baking experience was my 10 year olds Christmas gift. We had the most wonderful day with Lou who effortlessly managed a young baker.

From the demonstrations and then careful guidance we both produced a perfect set of macarons. My daughter was thrilled and the sweet treats sampled whilst we waited for everything to bake were amazing.

I would highly recommend this experience - both my daughter and I loved it.
